Guest Speaker: PLAN – Because I am a Girl campaign
Synopsis: 
Founded over 75 years ago, Plan is one of the oldest and largest children’s development organisations in the world.
Plan aims to achieve lasting improvements in the quality of life of deprived children in developing countries, through a process that unites people across cultures and adds meaning and value to their lives, by: enabling deprived children, their families and their communities to meet their basic needs and to increase their ability to participate in and benefit from their societies; building relationships to increase understanding and unity among peoples of different cultures and countries; promoting the rights and interests of the world’s children.
Plan works in 50 developing countries across Africa, Asia and the Americas to promote child rights and lift millions of children out of poverty. In 2013, Plan worked with 78 million children in 90,229 communities.
This year is the 3rd year of International Day of the Girl Child. Plan has a global campaign called “Because I am a Girl” (BIAAG) and their activities in China will take place on Friday the 10th October this year.
Speakers: 
Sven Coppens, who once worked as regional officers in Plan West Africa and Vietnam, now Country Director at Plan International in China, will discuss on Plan’s work promoting gender equality and children’s rights; zooming in on the relevance of their work in China.
Hao Yang, gender specialist of Plan China in Beijing office, will join the speech.

Speaker: Brett Rierson is World Food Program’s Representative in China, responsible for World Food Program’s relations with the Chinese Government, private sector and high net worth donors. Brett wants to take China’s unprecedented success in reducing hunger at home, and make it China’s greatest export.

The World Food Programme is the food assistance branch of the United Nations and the world’s largest humanitarian organization addressing hunger and promoting food security.

Speaker: Stefan Chow & Huiyi Lin, founders of thePoverty Line. The Poverty Line is the contextualization of poverty at a global level through food choices, economics and photography. Through visual typography, the project explores a simple question: what does it mean to be poor? ThePoverty Line was founded by market research specialist Lin Hui-Yi and World Press Photo winner Stefen Chow. The project started in China in 2010, and it has since been covered in 21 countries across 6 continents.
