Nov 1: Ride for Climate – David Kroodsma & Lindsey Fransen

Saturday, November 1, 2014 @ 7 pm: Ride for Climate

Location: Trouble Bar (near Workers Stadium)
China View, 2-101 Gongti Donglu
朝阳区工体东路中国红街2号楼10

In early May of this year, climate researchers David Kroodsma and Lindsey Fransen cycled out of Istanbul, heading east. Since then, they have ridden through eight countries, arriving in Beijing at the end of October. Along the way Kroodsma and Fransen, who hold degrees in climate science and environmental policy, respectively, have been researching the projected impacts of climate change on the regions they ride through. In addition, the pair has been interviewing people they meet on the roadside – farmers, herders, shop owners – about how the climate has changed in their lifetimes and what it means for them. Kroodsma also shared insights from a similar trip taken through the Americas from 2005 – 2007, the subject of his recently published book, The Bicycle Diaries.
